Spanish School Catarina is located only 45 kilometers South of Managua in Catarina, one of the "Pueblos Blancos". The town is at the crater's edge of the beautiful Laguna de Apoyo and enjoys views of the Mombacho volcano, Granada, Lake Cocibolca and la isletas. Catarina has the best panoramic vantage point from the crater's edge. 500 feet below lies the splendid Laguna de Apoyo. From the mirador (viewpoint) in Catarina you can peacefully spend time enjoying the magnificent scenery of the lake.
Catarina is a beautiful little town with a picturesque landscape, offering a cool and pleasant climate. It is well known for its many artisans, plant nurseries, and friendly atmosphere. It also boasts a colonial baroque church dating from the mid seventeenth century, a historical jewel.
